WhatsApp Online Notifications: Available Signals and Delivery Limits

A presence dot lighting up teal with a phone notification ripple — getting notified when someone comes online on WhatsApp

An online-activity alert can help you review supported visible sessions, but its timing and availability are not guaranteed.

What online status means

WhatsApp explains last seen and online as visibility controlled by its settings. Online status does not establish that someone has read your message or who they are talking to.

Do not assume that a tool can bypass hidden visibility. Check which platforms, accounts, and signals are supported in the current app. A missing observation does not prove that a person was offline.

How Suna fits

Suna is presented as an online-activity tool. Check the current app for available timelines and notification controls, and use monitoring only in an arrangement you are authorized to use.

An alert can be delayed by connectivity, platform availability, and notification delivery. This guide does not establish a polling architecture, a zero-battery design, or a guaranteed instant notification time.

Use alerts with clear limits

Agree on the purpose with the people involved and consider the applicable law and platform terms. Do not treat a presence notification as covert access to messages or a complete history of a person’s actions.

For an urgent check-in, contact the person directly. Presence data does not establish location or wellbeing, and an activity tool is not an emergency service.
